What Should You Do If Your Ex Girlfriend Is Dating Someone Else
While it is hard enough to get over a break up, your feelings are often punctuated when your ex girlfriend is dating someone else. While you are trying to cope the best you can, you are jealous as hell, and all you want to do is bash the new guy’s face in. So, what can you do to keep your feelings in check when your ex girlfriend is dating someone else?
One thing you can do it talk it out. Consider seeing a shrink and getting on some sort of temporary antidepressant. This may not be the most “macho” thing to do, but in some instances it may be the only outlet for your feelings. Obviously, if you ex girlfriend is dating someone else there is not much you can do. It is her decision to be with this new person, and you do not get a say in it.
Another thing you can do is exercise. While this may seem like a dumb suggestion, it actually helps fend off feelings of hurt and rage. The act of putting you body in motion helps send endorphins to the brain, which is a natural mood elevator. Also, vitamin D is a natural antidepressant. This simple supplement can be taken once a day and is good for overall health. Often when we are sad and depressed, our bodies shut down and become sick and tired. Since this is the case, make sure you are drinking plenty of water and taking a multivitamin daily. You do not want to deplete your body of the nutrients it needs to get you through this difficult time.
While you ex girlfriend is dating someone else, you should tell her that you are happy for her, even if it practically kills you to say. You need to be the bigger person here and let her know that you still care about her. And whatever you do, always be nice to the new boyfriend. Smile at him, and in general be friendly. This will go a long way. He may even start asking her why she dumped you in the first place since you are so nice!
Also, while your ex girlfriend is dating someone else, you need to stay busy. Go on a road trip. Re-locate yourself if this is an option. Move out the apartment that you may have shared together to get rid of those memories. Box up old things like pictures together, etc. You are already devastated enough as it is. You do not need these constant reminders keeping you down.
While your ex girlfriend is dating someone else, this does not mean that you need to immediately start dating someone else as well. Take the time you need to heal. It may be tempting because you are hurting so much right now to jump into something new. However, this would not be fair to the new person you would be seeing simply because she will inevitably turn into your therapist or a shoulder for you to cry on. She does not want this role as a new girlfriend, so spare her. Get involved with someone else only when you are done feeling sad over the fact that your ex girlfriend is dating someone else.
